I definitely felt that my trial was "heaped upon me" but I tried my very best to be "steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God" and I was able to carry on.

This quote could not be more true for my life.  I had the biggest trial of my life (my depression) hit me hard right before the biggest blessing of my life (dating, becoming engaged, and marrying my husband). I was pulled back so that I too could be launched into something amazing.  I don't know what your "amazing" will be, but I promise that God has big plans for you. You just need to keep on fighting as you are being pulled back. >>>--------->

These two pictures are of my BEAUTIFUL grandma.  One when she was just a child, and the other shortly before she passed away.  I love both pictures, because despite the differences in age, the light in her eyes is the same. My grandma fit every description of beautiful, but especially the one that I just quoted.  She knew plenty of suffering, struggle and loss.  And yet she was the most compassionate and gentle person that I ever knew.  That is what made her truly beautiful.

This is so much easier said than done.... but it is possible.  With a lot of hard work. With a lot of prayer. With the strength to never give up.

The Chrysalis

This quote is from the video "Real Women, Real Faith" that was shown in between the LDS General Conference sessions on April 6, 2014.  The video was a compilation of the stories of four women who have faced severe trials in their lives. Leilani talked about her journey through life while dealing with depression. It was a great video with the over lying theme being that with God on your side, anything is possible.  I love this particular quote from Leilani because of how realistic it is.  Depression is NOT something that can be conquered over night, and sometimes not even in a life time. For many people, it is something that they will have to deal with everyday for the rest of their lives.  The woman in this video is one of these people that struggles with depression everyday. She knows that right now in her life, overcoming depression is not her main goal.  Her goal is learning how to manage her depression so that she can still function and get the things done that are personally important to her. This is no easy task, but it is a lot easier than overcoming depression in any sort of a timeline. The link to the video can be found under the "Additional Resources Tab."

This is a quote that is very important for the caregivers of those suffering from depression and anxiety. This could apply to parents, siblings, friends, teachers, etc. They may be searching their hearts, souls and minds trying to come up with a way to save the ones they love... when really the best thing they can do is to not give up on those suffering and stay by their side... no matter how frustrating it is.  I knew that my parents particularly were trying to find the best thing that would help me.  After finding me a counselor, staying up until the wee hours of the morning talking to me, setting up doctor's appointments, paying for medication, praying for me, fasting for me and crying for me... they had done all that they could do.  The rest was up to me... and it got to a point where I just needed to know that they were always going to be there for me and wouldn't leave my side no matter what.
